The Visual Approach
 



Once again, we assume you know a little about meditation. If you do not, you might need to backtrack to have some of the basics explained.
The Visual Approach plays a major role in most of the traditional meditation schools.

Whether this is simply relating to the iconography of meditation, such as the Hindu or Buddhist mandalas, staring at a hypnotic image such as a candle flame, focusing on a nominated object such as a lotus flower or a distant mountain, or watching whirling dancers, the result is the same: by occupying your attention with a single visual element, you gradually empty your mind of thought.

When you have emptied your mind of thought, true awareness begins.
