Here's a lesson author Paul Wilson learned from his surfboard...

Some think that perfect balance means you never fall. That's short term balance, but it's not perfect balance.

Perfect balance means you're happy to get straight back up after you've taken the fall. And still feel motivated to go on.

Perfect Balance means you can feel calm and unhurried when you need to. With no consciousness of "time pressure".

In surfing terms, it's more than the ability to balance a surfboard and ride waves. It's a lesson in simplicity, and a process we call the Calm Way.

Simplicity is pretty obvious: a person, a chunk of foam and fibreglass, and the whims of nature.

But the Calm Way is when you realise balance improves when you're relaxed rather than tense. When you trust your instincts rather than your knowledge. And when you can just let go and enjoy the ride.
